Dr. Azam Ali is a senior lecturer in the Department of Applied Sciences at the University of Otago, Dunedin, New Zealand, as well as the director of its Bioengineering Program. He specializes in biomaterials, including biomaterials for medical, packaging and coating applications. He has published over 40 peer-reviewed papers and has done substantial work in product development, holding 18 international patents and patent specifications. For his achievements, he received the Bayer Years of the Innovators Award in 2010. Dr. Ali completed his BSc and MSc in Organic Chemistry at Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh, and received his PhD in Polymer and Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Science, Malaysia,
