Jaya Shankar Tumuluru | Idaho National Laboratory | USA

Dr. Jaya Shankar Tumuluru works as a research scientist in the Biofuels and Bioenergy Department at the Idaho National Laboratory. He is the principle investigator for the Biomass Size Reduction, Drying and Densification project supported by the Bioenergy Technologies Office at the Department of Energy. His research is focused on biomass pretreatments and densification technologies. Before he came to INL, Dr. Tumuluru worked as a postdoctoral researcher at University College Cork, Ireland; postdoctoral researcher, University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada; and research associate, University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Canada. His major research areas include thermal pretreatment of biomass, biomass densification using pellet mill and briquette press, biomass storage (off-gas measurements and modeling the emission rates), and extrusion technology for feed and food processing. Dr. Tumuluru has also worked on experimental data analysis using statistical methods, evolutionary and back propagation algorithms. He received his Ph.D. from the Agricultural and Food Engineering Department at the Indian Institute Technology, Kharagpur, India. He has received numerous honors, including outstanding reviewer for Institute of Chemical Engineers, American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers, and INL’s Exceptional Contributions Program Award for Outstanding Achievement in Scientific and Technical Publication.”
