Karen Stoeffler received her Ph.D in Chemical Engineering in 2008 from École Polytechnique de Montréal (Montreal, Quebec). Her work dealt with the formulation and processing of thermoplastic nanocomposites for industrial applications. She joined the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) as a Research Officer in 2009. She now leads NRC’s Polymer Bioproducts team (Boucherville, Quebec), part of NRC’s Automotive & Surface Transportation division. The Polymer Bioproducts team is dedicated to the creation of innovative and sustainable materials for the industry. The team mainly works with automotive OEMs and their suppliers, but also serves other industrial sectors such as packaging and construction. Core competencies include the formulation, processing and characterization of polymers and their composites.
