Dr. Bougherara is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering at Ryerson University. Her research focuses on the development of a new family of bone mimicking implants that are closer to real bone than current metal implants. Dr. Bougherara has strong national and international collaborations. Her team is among the first in Canada to explore the use of green material for biomedical implants. Her research is supported by several Canadian granting agencies and industrials. She is the recipient of the prestigious early research award from the Ontario Ministry of Research and Innovation. She is two times recipient of the Ryerson scholarly, research and creative activity award (SRC) and also winner of the collaborative research award (CRA). Since joining Ryerson in August 2007, Dr. Bougherara has published more than 50 journal papers in distinguished peer-reviewed journals, 30 conference proceedings, 5 book chapters and two patents. She also trained more than 50 HQPs.
