Prof. Billington is Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering and the Milligan Family Fellow in Undergraduate Education at Stanford University where she also co-chairs the Provost’s Committee on Sustainability. She received her B.S.E. from Princeton University and her M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Texas in Austin. Prof. Billington was Assistant Professor of Structural Engineering at the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University from 1997-2002. She joined the faculty at Stanford University in 2003. Her research group focuses on sustainable, durable construction materials and their application to structures and the construction. Two current areas of focus are damage-tolerant, high-performance fiber-reinforced cementitious composite materials, and bio-based fiber-reinforced polymeric composites that have a closed loop life-cycle.
